ALLEGED BREACH OF PROMISE

Decision Reserved (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 25. After hearing legal argument by counsel in the Supreme Court at Auckland today Mr Justice Gresson reserved his decision on motions in the action in which Janetta Sutherland, a spinster, sued James Charles Aickin. a medical practitioner, of Whangarei, for £ 1000 damages for alleged breach of promise. At the hearing, a jury assessed damages of £777 in favour of Miss Sutherland and the case was adjourned for two weeks to enable counsel to make submissions on the findings.

Trade Examinations.—The 7890 entries for the New Zealand Trades Certification Board examinations this year were a record, and were 900 more than last year, it was stated at the annual conference of the Technical Education Association yesterday.— (P.A.)
