CHILDREN’S HOME AT HUNTSBURY
No Hospital Beds To
Be Made Available
From a policy viewpoint, it was felt that thb Huntsbury Children’s Home should not depart from its present function as a children’s home, reported the benevolent committee to the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday, on a proposal that a number of beds on the upper floor of the home be set aside as a treatment room for hospital cases. The home has 33 beds and 27 are occupied. In view of the history of staffing difficulties at the home and the rising bed occupancy, the committee said it did not feel it advisable to implement such a scheme, particularly during the matron’s probationery period. It was envisaged that all available beds would be required to serve the initial purpose of the home. Any such scheme would have to be considered by the board’s medical and nursing staff. /
