Government Relief For Flood Victims
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 24. Within seven days the 106 victims of the February Waikato floods who have qualified for GovernVnent assistance will receive vouchers from the Treasury in Auckland to cover the grants. The applicants live in the Otorohanga, Te Kuiti, Taumarunui‘ and Turangi districts, and between them will receive a total of £4OOO. Only three of the grants exceed £lOO.
A £lO franchise will be given in each case, as with an insurance policy. The few pensioners who applied will be paid at a rate o£,two-thirds of their losses.
