HOSPITAL PUBLIC RELATIONS

Report On Visit By Consultant

The visit of the Melbourne consultant on public relations, Mr J. C. Handfield, had cost £250 and it all depended on how its report was implemented whether further cost would be involved, said Mr L. Christie (chairman of the finance committee), when he was questioned by Mr C. H. Oldham at yesterday’s meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Future cost would depend on whether the board’s own officers carried out the public relations scheme, said Mr Christie. The board decided, after a discussion, not to release Mr Handfield’s report for publication until the report and recommendations of the finance committee were discussed at the October meeting of the board.

If the report was acted on, he doubted whether 75 per cent of the recommendations would be carried out in the next four years, said Mr Christie.
