PUBLIC SERVICE ECONOMIES
Commission Offers Rewards (“The Press" Special Service) AUCKLAND, September 24. The Public Service Commission, seeking “ideas for effecting savings and eliminating waste.” has offered cash awards for accept-
able suggestions from members of the service.
There has been a good response to the fortnight’s campaign, an officer of the commission said in Wellington. Many suggestions had come in. The campaign will end on Friday. This is the first time all members of the service have been invited to send in ideas. Twelve former campaigns had been successfully conducted on a departmental basis. The main aims are to effect economies, eliminate waste and unnecessary operations and reduce the time and cost of jobs.
