Little Trading Done On ’Change

Business was slow on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, with only 14 parcels of shares changing hands. Prices were steady to easier. New Zealand Forest Products changed hands at 20s, an improvement of 3d over the last local business in this stock. Stocks to sell at easier prices were New Zealand Breweries, G. J. Coles and Tekau Knitwear. New Zealand Refrigerating, Hays, FarrierWaimak and Gillman Packaging were steady.

“The Press” of Tuesday morning indicated that there had been no sales on the Wellington and Auckland Stock Exchanges on Monday. It has since been learnt that these exchanges were closed for Dominion Day. The Christchurch and Dunedin Stock Exchanges remained open on that day.
