“BIRDS KILLED BY POISON”
(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 24. A poison trail laid for rabbits on the public domain at the Bluegum Point, Lake Te Anau, has apparently been responsible for killing birds in the area, according to Dr. G. B. Orbell, of Invercargill, a prominent wild life authority. He said today that at the weekend he had seen several dead birds lying in one corner of the domain near the poison. “Apparently killed by the poison were three blackbirds, and one ground lark or meadow pipit, as well as two rabbits,” he said.
