PARLIAMENT’S DIARY
In an afternoon and evening totalling six working hours, Parliament yesterday passed 12 bills through their committee and third reading stages. Though this took until 10.30 p.m., it represented only the easier half of the day’s work, for urgency had been taken on 24 bills, most of which still required their second reading debates. Bills passed through all stages tonight were:—The Hastings Gas Company Bill, the Transport Amendment Bill, the Domestic Proceedings Amendment Bill, the Customs Act Amendment Bill, the Motor Spirits Distribution Amendment BilF, the Finance Bill, the Distillation Amendment Bill, the Simultaneous Deaths Dill, the Judicature Amendment Bill, the Gas Industry Bill, the Maori Purposes Bill, and the New Zealand Society of Accountants Bill. The House then went on with the second reading debate of the Transport Amendment (No. 2) Bill. This bill passed its second reading at 11.40 p.m. and the House proceeded with the second reading debate of the Air Service Licensing Amendment Bill.
