League LEAGUE FORMED IN CALIFORNIA

N.Z. Players May Get £lOO A Game

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 23.

An opportunity for one or two New Zealand Rugby League players to earn more than £lOO a match may be given by the formation in California recently of the American Rugby League. The suggestion is contained in a letter from the American secretary (Mr W. B. Nash) to a New Zealand Council member (Mr R. F. Rogers). In its initial stages, the league will be composed of professional grid-iron teams playing a few months before the opening of their normal football season. San Francisco and Los Angeles will be the first centres to have clubs. In a photostat copy of another letter, an American organiser said that the league would be offering 300 dollars a game to each man, plus a bonus "if the attendance is extra good."
