Boston Welcomes Skate
BOSTON, September 23. The United States nuclearpowered submarine, the Skate, made port at Boston yesterday after her 12,000-mile cruise, which took her twice to the North Pole during the 10 days she spent under the Arctic ice. Civil and military officials turned out to give the 97 men of the crew a hero’s welcome. Rear-Admiral Hyman Rickover led the greeters. He went down the harbour to board the ship for her trip to a berth at the Boston Naval Shipyard.
