Japanese Leaders To Visit City

Two Japanese delegates to a Salvation Army conference in Australia will visit Christchurch on October 8 and 9. Mrs Kyo Kiuchi, who is 71 and has taught in primary schools since 1903, will be accompanied by Mr Bufo Yamamuro, a well-known author, and son of Commissioner Gunpei Yamamuro. of the Salvation Army. Both delegates are interested in temperance. Mrs Kiuchi is president of the Tokyo Temperance Society and a managing director of the Japan Temperance Union. Mr Yamamuro, head of the international department of the union, has written several articles and pamphlets on the subject. Mrs Kiuchi has also served a term as a member of the House of Councillors, the upper house of the Japanese Diet.
