THREE MEN INJURED
Car Crashes Through Bridge
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN. Sept 7. The condition of three men injured in a spectacular car accident about five miles north of Waikouaiti on Friday night is satisfactory. One of them was a former Otago and All Black footballer, Norman Wilson, aged 35, now of Ellis road, Invercargill, who suffered head injuries and injuries to his right leg. The two other men who were also admitted to the Dunedin Public Hospital are Mervyn Nelson, aged 41, of Venus street, Invercargill, and Bryan Thomas Sunderland, aged 23, of Invercargill. They suffered head injuries.
Their car crashed through Tumai bridge and down a 70-foot bank about 9 p.m. Seconds before it burst into flames the men managed to struggle from the wreck. Two large beams from the bridge were driven right through the car by the force of the impact They entered on either side of the radiator, passed through the front seat and penetrated the rear seat
