Winners Of Major Contests
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 5.
The major contests in the Auckland Competitions Society’s festival were decided Mary O’Brien, of Birkenhead, won the £lOO John Court memorial aria; Noel Mangin, of Mount Roskill, won the £lOO James Stenberg aria scholarship. Antoni Bonetti, of St. Heliers, the £125 “New Zealand Herald” violin concerto and John Havill, of Wanganui, the £125 “Auckland Star” piano concerto. A £lOO Auckland Rotary Club award for, a Shakespearian and a Dickens recital was won by Bruce Purchase, of Ellerslie.
