HEALTH STAMP CAMPAIGN
First-Day Sales £95*,055 (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 21. Wellington topped New Zealand in first day sales of the 1958 issue of health stamps. Returns today received by the Post Office from the main centres showed Wellington to have sold £12,841 worth of stamps, an increase of £lBB9 on last year. Sales started yesterday. First day figures, with last year’s totals in parentheses were:
Auckland £9618 (£9719); Blenheim £lO2l (£882); Christchurch £11,122 (£ 11,070); Dunedin, £7702 (£7150); Gisborne £2245 (£2190); Greymouth £1485 (£1463); Hamilton £7092 (£6077); Invercargill £3748 (£3674); Masterton £1846 (£1620); Napier £5287 (£5082); Nelson £2045 (£1660); New Plymouth £2251 (£2630); Oamaru £l3ll (£1166); Palmerston North £5156 (£4812); Thames £3027 (£2918); Timaru £3319 (£3150); Wanganui £2280 (£2809); Wellington £12,841 (£10,952); Westport £331 (£471); Whangarei £2169 (£1906); overseas sales £5259 (£4760).
Dominion sales for the first day totalled £95,055 compared with £86,155 last year.
