SHIRLEY BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL
Design Of New Block The Shirley Boys’ High School board of governors will examine the Nelson plan for school buildings before it makes any recommendation for the design of the new block for Shirley. The board decided last evening on Mr G. Burns’s suggestion to write to the Department of Education and ask to see the Nelson plans, which comprise two-storey blocks, each of eight rooms. The suggestion came after a letter from Mr C. G. S- Ellis, assistant director with the department, assuring the board that discussions would be held between the school authority and the department before details of the new block were completed. The block could not be included in the final programme for! 1958-59, said Mr Ellis. “The need! for additional accommodation at| Shirley Boys’ High School isl recognised,” he said, ‘‘and it is] proposed to proceed with the plansi with a view to an early start in 1959.”
