Appointment Of Principal “The Press’* Special Service AUCKLAND, August 21. Mrs M. J. Drayton, of Auckland, has been appointed principal of Tauranga Girls’ College. She is at present senior assistant mistress: of Seddon Memorial Technical: College. The position became vacant by, the resignation of Mrs A. V. Allo, first principal of the college, which opened at the beginning of the year. Mrs Drayton graduated from Victoria University, Wellington, in 1935, and gained honours in history the following year. She was awarded a diploma in education: and the Lissie Rathbone Scholar-; ship.
Mrs Drayton’s career began as a primary school teacher. In 1938, | she joined the staff of Ashburton’ High School and later served at Wellington Girls’ College, Timaru Girls’ High School and Whangarei; Girls’ High School. In 1952 she visited England to. further her teaching experience. She was appointed to her present position this year, and will take up her new appointment at Tauranga next year.
