REACTIONS TO BROADCASTS

Church Project In Southland “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, August 21. Listener reaction to religious broadcasts is being tested in an audience research project claimed to be “more ambitious in its field than anything previously tried in New Zealand.” The project is described in Presbyterian Church Enterprises, which is published in Wellington for leaders of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand. It says: “In this audience research pilot project the Southland churches of all denominations have agreed to unite in distributing and collecting a questionnaire. “A sample cross-section of people will be questioned on their attitude to religious broadcasts. The questions, have been carefully designed to get the real feeling of the people, avoiding politely white-washed answers. Reactions could shock.” The New Zealand Broadcasting Service is interested in the experiment, says Presbyterian Church Enterprises.
