THE FIRST PILE being driven on the Kurow-Hakataramea bridge over the Waitaki river. The bridge, which is a link between Canterbury and North Otago, was damaged during heavy floods some months ago. Seven piles are to be replaced, and the bridge is closed to all traffic.
