Farmers' Diary

The “New Zealand Farming Year Diary” for the period from July, 1958, to June, 1959. which has been produced by Collins, Publishers, Auckland, at a cost of 16s, is a development of a diary produced by the economic service of the New Zealand Meat and Wool Boards for farmers whowere working with the service in providing material for its studies of New Zealand sheep farming. The publishers say that repeated requests were made to the boards to make this diary generally available to farmers ana this year, through the co-op.?ration of the economic service of the two boards and the Dairy Board, a diary has been produced which it is believed will meet the requirements of both sheep and dairy farmers.

The diary contains information about the boards and their association with the farming industry, with sections for recording sheep and cattle jiumbers, sales and purchases, wool production, dipping, tailing and shearing tallies, lambing and calving percentages, production figures of meat, wool and butterfat, breeding and service tables for all classes of live stock, and records of losses through disease, with details of treatments and inoculations. A section is also devoted to records of cropping, pasture sowing, and topdressing. With provision for daily records and a monthly summary as well, the publishers believe that it will enable farmers to keep a record of all farming activities in a most convenient form.
