TV Commercials Interest Few

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, August 8.

A quarter of the persons who see television advertisements are not at all interested in them, according to the latest Gallup poll. Another 47 per cent, take only a little interest: men take less interest than women.

Almost one |n three takes no interest at all. Certain commercials annoy many persons; 20 per cent, disliked one advertisement for detergent, and 17 per cent disliked an advertisement for another.

The poll found that 53 per cent, of viewers whose sets could get both B B.C. and commercial television preferred the general run of commercial programmes compared with 18 per cent, who said that the 8.8. C. programmes were better. The rest said there was nothing to choose between them.
