Sir, —Congratulations to ‘‘The Press” on the leading article on estate duties: “Gobbling up the Seed Corn.” It seems to me very aptly described in those few words. By the time the younger generation grows up, and the taxproducing capital has been whittled down and used on current expenditure, where is the revenue to come from to meet the ever-increasing social security demand which will result? It is a good thing “The Press” is awake to the crippling effect of the disinheritance tax on the economy of the country, when all that will be left will be— Yours, etc., THE HUSK. August 5, 1958.
