Capacity To Meet Bulk Of Needs (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 6. New Zealand’s* printing industry now had the capability to produce the bulk of the country’s printing needs, said the New Zealand Printers’ Federation president (Mr E. A. Parlett) at the opening session in Wellington of the master (printers’ management convention. The convention, which will last for three days, is being attended by 100 printing executives from all over the country. Among the subjects on the agenda are I principles of management, | methods, standards, incentives, finance, staff relations and sales. I The printing industry in New Zealand was efficient and economic, but there were no grounds for complacency, said Mr Parlett. There was a great need throughout New Zealand industries for efficient, scientific management. There was a need for schools of technology • and schools of business administration at the university level, he said. “New Zealand has been thrown on to her own resources: we I "must become much more selfsufficient. Our industries must be made so efficient and economic that we can compete with anyone.” That was not an easy (task to accomplish; it called for the active co-operation and genuine support of all sections of the community, he said.
