LIVERPOOL DIPLOMA
Honour For Miss F. Rutherford [From the London Correspondent of “The Press”) Miss Frances Rutherford, viceprincipal and assistant supervisor of New Zealand's only school of occupational therapy at Auckland, has gained a diploma of education in occupational therapy at the Liverpool School of Occupational Therapy. She is the first New Zealander and one of only 12 to hold the diploma in this subject. Previously an art mistress, Miss Rutherford made an earlier visit to Britain in 1948 and studied at the Central London School of Arts and Crafts. She then went to the Liverpool school and gained her Membership of the Association of Occupational Therapists. She already held a diploma in fine arts from Canterbury University College, Christchurch. Miss Rutherford considers the standard in Britain is higher on the physical side of the work but it is not necessarily higher on the psychological side. While at Liverpool, Miss Rutherford acted as a senior lecturer. She will return to New Zealand on August 29.
