SELWYN HOUSE SCHOOL
Open Day For Parents After a day visiting Selwyn House School parents of pupils attended a cocktail party last evening. Yesterday was the school’s open day and anyone interested in the work of the Parents’ National Educational Union was welcome to inspect the classrooms and' watch the pupils at work. They saw an art display and handcrafts as well as a dancing display and a basketball match. At the party last evening the president (Mr John Ward) and Mrs Ward welcomed about 60 guests. The Christmas carol “Deck the Hall with Bows of Holly,” was represented by beautifully-arranged centrepieces of holly, candles and flowers. Flaming rum punch was served. Specially invited guests included the chairman of the school board (Mr W. S. Cox) and Mrs Cox and the school doctor (Dr. C. W. Whetter) and Mrs Whetter. Mrs F. Miller, headmistress, wore a lilac honeycomb-weave sheath frock with a lilac-coloured spray of freesias. Mrs Ward wore a pencil-slim dress in grey worsted with a panel of sunray pleats in the back of the bodice. With it she wore a feathered green closefitting hat.
