DOOMBEN TEN THOUSAND
Yahabeebe Hot Favourite
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) BRISBANE, July 4. The New Zealand mare. Yahabeebe, will go to the post tomorrow one of the hottest favourites in the history of the Doomben Ten Thousand. Yahabeebe. which has headed the betting lists this week, became an even firmer favourite today. The jockeys, G. F. Hughes (Yahabeebe). G. More (Squander Lad), and W. Camer (Diamond Vista) all claimed todav that they did not want to lead early in the big sprint tomorrow. They hope they tian reserve their mounts for a final winning burst. More and Camer are experienced Doomben jockeys. Hughes also knows the track well. Yahabeebe’s trainer, M. E. Ritchie, said today that Hughes would be allowed to ride his own race. He would prefer him to sit behind the leaders because of the big weight, 9-2.
Yahabeebe finished a good second to Wiggle in the Stradbroke Handicap, and the seven furlongs less 93 yards tomorrow will be to her advantage. The latest order of favouritism is: Yahabeebe; Squander Lad; Diamond Vista; Grenable, Grey Ghost, Troy; Aura; New Joy; French Charm, The Lampert; Grifite, Wild Cherry; Cabin Inn, Valiant Prince; Stocktake.
