Anniversary Marked At Burnham
The New ''Zealand Women’s, Army Corps of the Southern Military District held a reunion recently at Burnham Camp to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the inclusion of the corps in the regular force.
The programme included golf and basketball matches, a regimental dinner, and a church service.
Guests at the dinner were deceived by Captain R. P. R. Montgomery, District Assistant Directoi of the New Zealand Women’s Royal Army Corps. Major L. M Knights, Director of the New Zealand Women’s Royal Army Corps, was guest of honour. She was accompanied by Major M. J. Hardcastle (retired), former director of the corps. Other specially invited guests included the Commander of the Southern Military District (Brigadier J. T. Burrows) and Mrs Burrows, Lieu-tenant-Colonel L. A. Kermode and Mrs Kermode, Chaplain L. F Allison and Mrs Allison.
The nursing services were represented by Matron M. Peake, Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps, and officers and other ranks of the corps and of the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps. At a service held at All Saints Church. Burnham, the corps flag was blessed by the padre and handed over to him for safe keeping in the church. This flag, green with the corps badge superimposed on a brown diamond, was hand painted by a member of the corps.
