GAS SUPPLY CUT AT DUNEDIN
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 3. Dunedin’s gas supplies were completely cut off from 1.30 to 4.30 this afternoon. With continued cold weather imposing great demands on the holdings at the city council gasworks stocks this morning were down to 642,000 cubic feet. The three-hour cut was made to build up stocks, said the city gas engineer, Mr C. H. Edwards. Asked if there would be any cuts tomorrow he said “It is extremely unlikely, but one cannot tell.”
Broadcast messages were made warning people to expect a threehour cut.
