Medical Ball At Winter Garden
An interlude of fashion attracted interest at the Canterbury branch of the British Medical Association’s ball last evening at the Winter Garden. It was preceded by a dinner at which the president (Dr. W. J. Edginton) and Mrs Edginton welcomed guests. A mannequin parade of Christ-church-fashioned clothes was compered by Margaret Barrer and shown by four models. The following associations were represented: The Canterbury branches of the New Zealand Society of Accountants’, the New Zealand Law Society, the New Zealand Dental Association and the New Zealand Pharmaceutical Society. Members of the organising committee were Mr G. W. Holland and Dr. C. J. J. Morkane.
Mrs Edginton wore a gold lurex patterned brocade gown with Empire influence and a full skirt decorated with a bussle bow. The bodice was trimmed with orange chiffon and the skirt was slightly shorter in front than at the back giving a train effect.
