CITY UNDER FOG AGAIN
Most Suburbs Clear Early Visibility was reduced to a few feet when many parts of the city were again blanketed in fog shortly after 9 p.m. yesterday. However, unlike Sunday night, the fog started to clear about 11 o’clock and there was no hold-up in public transport. The only area where the fog was still heavy early this morning was in the Woolston-Radley districts. In all other areas where taxi drivers had earlier reported it to be heavy—South Brighton, Aranui, and Riccarton, it remained only in patches. No collisons were reported and the only accident was when one motorist, who was leading five other cars through the fog on Ferry rqad, near Bamford street, at 10.30 p.m. lost his way, ran off the road and stopped with the front of his car in the Heathcote river. The driver and his woman passenger had to be helped out by the other motorists through the back door of the car on to the bank. Arrangements Were made to have the car pulled out and the other motorists made their way slowly with a woman walking in front of the leading car with a torch. The fog cleared completely whey they reached Mount Pleasant.
