MEAT AND WOOL RESERVES
“£llss For Every Sheep In NX” (New Zealand press Association) INVERCARGILL June 23. “The reserve funds of the New Zealand Meat Board amount to £4O million, which is equal to £1 a head for every sheep in New Zealand, and the reserve funds of the New Zealand Woo) Board amount to £27 million so that the total of these two funds represents £1 15s for every sheep in the country.’’ said Mr H. P Mclntyre, chairman of the Alliance Freezing Company (Southland), Ltd. today when speaking at the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the company's new works at Lomeville. Mr Mclntyre said the reserve funds were a splendid safeguard for the meat and wool industries, and he hoped they would be preserved. Credit was due to the two boards, to the electoral committee of these boards and to the Government for the policy of building up the funds. Most of the funds were invested in Government stock, and that was a great help to the Government
