NEW ITALIAN CABINET
Fanfani May Be Premier (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) ROME, June 23 The President of Italy, Dr. Giovanni Gronchi, will today conclude his consultations for the formation of a new government He will receive the two elder statesmen who were his predecessors in the Presidency. Mr Enrico de Nicola, aged 80, and Mr Luigi Einaudi, aged 83. These interviews will complete President Gronchi’s talks with 25 political figures—present and past Speakers of the House of Parliament, former Prime Ministers, ana Parliamentary party leaders. He is expected to designate a new Premier tomorrow or Wed nesday, to try to form a new Cabinet in succession to Mr Adone Zoli’s Christian Democrat minority government which resigned on Thursday in accordance with post-electoral procedure.
General Elections were held a month ago. It was generally expected that the President would call for Mt Amintore Fanfani, the 50-yeai - old leader of the Christian Democrats.
If designated, Mr Fanfani will try to set up a two-party coalition of Christian Democrats and Social Democrats. « The small “Left of centre” Republican Party may agree to give its support in Parliament
