Old Boys, well dow’n in the competition ladder had a well-earned win over Geraldine in the main Rugby match in Timaru on Saturday. With the backs tossing the ball about freely Old Boys scored five tries, winning 18-13. Geraldine made a strong challenge midway through the second half, and the country team was leading 13-12 with 15 minutes of play remaining. However, Old Boys soon regained the initiative and the team would have been unlucky to lose. The wing three-quarters, I. Pollock, scored three tries. B. Wilson and J. Fleetwood each scored, and B. Fowler kicked a penalty. Geraldine points were from tries by B. Stringer (2) and P. Morrison, and two conversions by N. Bain. The competition leaders. Waimate. carried on their winning way with a 12-3 win against Mackenzie. Temuka beat Celtic 9-3 and Zingari had a clear-cut win, 25-6, against Star. Skinner Cup points now are:— Waimate 18, Zingari 16, Temuka 16, Celtic 10. Geraldine 8, Old Boys 6, Star 4, Mackenzie 2. Malvern Games Results of Rugby matches played in the Malvern Sub-Association on Saturday were: — Senior.—Darfield 24, Hororata 15; Black Diamonds 11, Sheffield 3; Kirwee 43, United 0. Junior.—Darfield beat Springfield by default; Black Diamonds 12, Sheffield 11.
