CONFERENCE PROPOSALS

Recommendations On Control (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 2a Recommendations to the controlling trotting bodies of Australia and New Zealand, made by the recent inter-Dominion conference in Melbourne, were announced this evening by the conference secretary, Mr N. Hollier. Recommendations included:— That no horse be accepted lor registration after reaching the age of seven; Every horse submitted for regie? tration should bear both identification and age brands; The number of invitation racef staged by each club should not exceed four in a season; Invitation races need not be restricted to open class horses; That no two-year-old races should be staged before November 1 and that two-year-olds should not be allowed to start in races exceeding a mile and t quarter. fNew Zealand controlling bodies are exempted from this recommendation.] The conference also deliberated on the matter of time qualifications for entry into the stud book. To be eligible for entry, present time qualifications are 2min 25sec for the mile for trotters and 2min 20sec for pacers. The conference will ask controlling bodies throughout Australia to consider the reduction of these times, to 2min 20sec for trotters and 2min 15sec for pacers. Mr J. P. Stratton, of Western Australia, was re-elected president of the conference. Other officers arc Messrs C. S. Thomas (New Zealand) and A. T. Cusick (New South Wales), vicepresidents, and Mr J. R. Reeves (New South Wales), treasurer.
