STUDENTS GIVE BLOOD
Lincoln College Support
Students at Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, gave such a quantity of blood to the mobile unit of the Blood Transfusion S3rvice last week that the unit was filled to capacity and had to return to the college again on Thursday. Then the unit almost had another full load—99 bottles —making 219 bottles for the two visits.
During the eight visits to the college by the unit 718 bottles of blood have been given. “It shows there is nothing wrong with the coming generation when they are so willing to assist the hospitals with their blood," said the secretary of the North Canterbury Blood Transfusion Service (Mr T. W. Smith). The issue of blood to the hospitals is increasing. In the first five months of this year, 3020 bottles were issued. This is 837 more than in the first five months of last year.
