CAGE BIRD SOCIETY
Judges Praise . Quality The judges were more than satisfied with the quality of the birds, said the president of. the Christchurch Society of Cage Birds (Mr A. P. Craig) at the society's show in the Riccarton Returned Services’ Association hall. There were about 500 birds entered in six sections for judging, he said. This was slightly less than last year’s number. Entries came from as far north- as Auckland and as far south as Invercargill. The north-west conditions created an ideal temperature in the hall, and the birds were in the peak of condition. There was a good display of foreign birds. Some varieties were less. this year than last. was thought to be the result of import restrictions. An unflighted Norwich canary, owned by Mr M. J. Morgan, of Timaru, was awarded the blue ribbon in its class, and also nine other prizes for its appearance. The bird was described by the judge of that section (Mr G. Duggan) as outstanding.
