(Civil) degree and have good overall experience in river control work, including the design of hydraulic structures. Commencing salary will be within the range £l2OO-£1450 in accordance with qualifications and experience. ASSISTANT DRAUGHTSMAN Applicants must have experience in general plan draughting and survey plotting. Commencing salary will be within the range £730-£B5O in accordance with experience. The work includes all phases of road engineering, such as surveying, soil mechanics tests, pavement design of soil roads, preparation of designs and contract documents, and positions as Resident Engineers. Applicants should possess an engineering degree, and preferably five years’ experience at least. There will be two tours of 18 months in Nigeria, with three months’ paid leave the end of each tour. Salary will be in the range of £l5OO to £2OOO a year, plus free quarters and car, including running expenses, free medical attention and a bonus of £225 for each 18 months’ tour. Basic salary will be reviewed at the end of the first tour. Tourist class re- ■ turn sea fares will be paid between ■ New Zealand and England, and tourist air fares between England and Nigeria at the beginning and end of each 18 months’ tour. Preference will be given to applicants with special knowledge of soil mechanics applied to roads, and the conditions in Nigeria will give first rate experience of this nature.
