Timaru-Christchurch Road Service
An amendment to the continuous passenger service licence by re-scheduling the present 125 p.m. and 1.35 p.m. (Sunday) Ti-maru-Christchurch services to 1.10 p.m. and 1.20 pm. respectively was sought by the Minister of Railways at the sitting of the No 9 Transport Licensing Authority yesterday. . . The application, for which Mr C. C. McDonald appeared in support. was granted.
Indian Heatwave.— Reports from Lucknow say that 86 persons have died from heat in four days in the Uttar Pradesh State. In Delhi, where yesterday's temperature reached 108 degrees, the death roll reached 14 in three days.—New Delhi, June 20,
