DUMPING OF BUTTER

Countries Accept Quotas (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 20. The United Kingdom has now made arrangements to restrict butter imports by approximately 40,000 tons, according to the latest statement by the president of the Board of Trade (Sir David Eccles) When New Zealand waged its anti-dumping petition United Kingdom estimates were that total supplies from the countries concerned in the complaints would be 65,000 tons. The total ot the quotas now approved is 34.500 tons, which means that there has been a reduction of 30.500 tons on what would have been shipped in the normal course of events. In addition, Argentine shipments, which would have been lower in any case, will be down by 8300 tons. Other reductions have been estimated at approximately 1000 tons, and this gives a round figure of lower shipments of 40,000 tons. According to the decisions now being announced by Sir David Eccles actual shipments in the 12 months period should be:— Estimated Landed to U.K. this year. last year.
