FRENCH PASS REEF
Removal Suggested By M.P. (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 20. The Minister of Marine (Mr Fox) was asked in the House of Representatives this morning by Mr A. S. Whitehead (Government, Nelson) whether he would examine the possibility of removing the reef which was a shipping hazard in the French Pass. The recent stranding of the vessel Waiana on the reef while she was en route to Nelson caused the matter of dealing with the reef to be raised again, said Mr Whitehead. Mr W. J. Scott (National. Rodney) asked the Postmaster General (Mr Moohari) if he would state the reasons why the department would not adopt the system of spreading motor reregistration throughout the year as operated in Australia.
