Murder of Sydney Schoolgirl
(Rec. 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 20 A jury in the Central Criminal Court found John Charles Smith, aged 29, guilty of the murder of a 14-year-old schoolgirl. He was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment.
The prosecution, in evidence, alleged that Smith abducted the schaolgirl. Margaret Thomas, from a dormitory of Sydney’s Methodist Ladies’ College, in the early hours of April 11, took her to a park, raped her, and stabbed her to I death.
