N.Z. MEAT IN LONDON
Lamb Rises
(New Zeaiana Press Association > WELLINGTON. June 6. The market information service of the Meat Producers* Board reports that there were meat shortages in both London and the provinces this week. The complete shut-down at Smithfield continued. The dock strike at London prevented chilled beef from reaching the trade and consequently there were over-all supply difficulties, extending to the provinces.
Trade was done at erratic prices with most values rising. The range of prices for New Zealand lamb rose again. Prime quality New Zealand lamb was priced as follows2Blb and under. 2s 4*2d to 2s 5’ 2 d per lb; 291 b to 361 b. 2s 2‘ 2 d to 2s 3« 2 d; 371 b to 421 b, 2s Id to 2s 2V 2 d; 431 b to 501 b. 2s.
New Zealand mutton was Id per lb dearer than last week. Frozen beef was very scarce and dear. Homekilled beef was in strong demand at 2a 4d to 2s 9d per lb.
