Market Quiet
The market Jor lactic casein in the United Kingdom continues to be extremely quiet, with the emphasis on spot bookings rather than on forward shipment, states the London office of the Bank of New Zealand in its monthly market review. The Argentine has increased its f.o.b. prices but with the fluctuation in the peso rate it is having difficulty. Polish suppliers continue to offer supplies for June and July, and small quantities have been 'booked for forward There has been little change in the milk powder market, but some prices are a little easier than they were in May. Quotations: Spray skimmed: New Zealand 68s to 72s a cwt ex store: Australian «4s to 68s: English 70s to 74s delivered. Roller skimmed: New Zealand 62s to 66s ex store; English 63s to 67s 6d delivered. Buttermilk: New Zealand spray 64s to 66s ex store, roller 60s to 61s; English 59s to 65s delivered.
With the end of the current export killing season now only two or three weeks away, meat trade circles in Christchurch do not expect price schedules to be adversely affected by the London dock strike, particularly as prices for lamb are rising in the United Kingdom.
