The off-course double on the opening day at Awapuni tomorrow of the Manawatu Racing Club’s winter meeting will be on the Manawatu Winter Handicap and the Stewards’ Handicap. There was rain today, but the forecast is for an improvement to fair conditions tomorrow after early showers. The track will be soft. Selections:— 11 a.m.—Ruahine Hack Hurdles: Solepic, Pine Grove, Ballast. 11.40 a.m.—Trial Stakes: First Division—Culminate, Westbrook. Second Division—Humquh, Sunrayed. 12.25 p.m.—Manawatu Winter Cup: Let’s Go, Sarabelle, Belfast. 1:5- p.m.—Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase: First Degree, Fantham, Brent. 1.50 p.m.—Stewards’ Handicap: Anagram, The Drum, Kirklea. 2.30 p.m.—Suburban Hack Handicap: Amastris, Miss Brookfields, Jabolu. 3.15 p.m.—City Hack* Handicap: Zenella, Happy Luca, Nonchalant. 4 p.m.—June Hack Handicap: Lovely Chance, Portland, Pyrrhus.
