DAMAGE BY WIND AT HERMITAGE
Windows Blown Out, Hut Overturned (New Zealand Press Association) TIMARU. June 6. Strong northerly winds swept in gusts through the Mackenzie Country last night and in the early hours of this morning, causing some minor damage 'at the new Hermitage Lodge, Mount Cook. Plate glass windows in the lounge (6 feet square) and the bar (4 feet square) were blown out—not in. The wind blew through the swing doors and the fanlight. ' Another casualty was a hut used as a temporary office by the Hermitage contractors, the Fletcher Construction Company. Ltd. The hut. transferred .from the site a few days ago, was blown over. The wind dropped later this morning when steady rain set in.
