Export Prices Down In Australia
CANBERRA, June 8. Export prices in April were 28 per cent below the aggregate level for April last year and 23 per cent below the mean level for the trade year 1958-57. The Commonwealth Statistician, Mr S. R. Carver, said today that compared with April last year the following variations in the export prices of various commodities occurred in April this year:—wool down 35 per cent., metals down 32 per cent., butter down 23 per cent, sugar down 23 per cent, meats down 15 per cent., wheat up 14 per cent, dried fruits up 8 per cent, and tallow up 3 per cent.
