CONFUSION IN ALGERIA

General Charles de Gaulle will today wind up his brief and vital visit to Algeria to rally the population behind him in the “renovation” of France. . H /.J' a «, du . e this mornin K to Ay to Oran, chief city of the Western region, and then to drive 56 miles on to the port of Mostagenem, making speeches in both places. From Mostagenem, he was due to return to Oran tonight, and fly back to Paris. Although Europeans and Moslems alike have given the General a triumphal reception, there has been _ some criticism among supporters of the Algerian Public Safety Committees about the composition of his government. Leaflets distributed in Algiers yesterday reflected the political confusion. They called for a demonstration to support de Gaulle—but to protest against his government.
