MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION
Registrations of motor-vehicles in Christchurch this year will be higher than ever before the Post Office believes. It is expected that approximately 50,000: registrations will be made. Last year 47,523 vehicles were licensed in Christchurch. Some vehicles have gone off the road since then but many more have been put into service. Latest figures available yesterday showed that the rate of increase in relicensing is faster this year than in 1957. On the opening day—Tuesday, June 3—there were 516 vehicles registered; on Wednesday. 856; and on Thursday, 1129. The total to Thursday night was 2501 compared with 2317 in the first three days last year. Relicensing ends on June 30.
