Adventure Share For £l3OO : “The Press’ Special Service WELLINGTON. April 8. ' A round-the-world adventure in a 60ft schooner yacht is offering 1 to five men prepared to form ' her crew at an anproximate cost ; to each of £l3OO for the twoyear cruise. An advertisement in a Wellington newspaper announced that the schooner Utopia, now at Tahiti, was looking for a “paying crew” for a two-year cruise round the world. The route will cover the Fiji Islands. New Guinea, Java, Sumatra. Bali, Borneo, Malaya. Ceylon. India. Africa, and round the cape of Good Hope to the Canary Islands and the Caribbean Sea. The cruise “should finish in Chicago by way of the St. Lawrence Seaway about July, 1960.” Those interested and “in good health” were asked to write to the advertiser care of a post office box number at Auckland. The schooner Utopia is owned by Mr F. Peterson, who is now at Papeete. Tahiti. He is from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and is not only a boat-builder but also a manufacturer of farm machinery for John Deere and the International Harvester Company. Fitted For Luxury The Utopia is about four years old and has already made cruises to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Sea. She has excellent living accommodation and is fitted with radio, radar, and deep-freeze cabinets for provisions. She is powered by a marine engine. Anyone desirous of joining the Utopia will be required to pay a lump sum of £l3OO or at the rate of £5O a month towards the cost of the cruise. Inquiries may De made direct to Mr Peterson on board the yacht at Papeete or at I Suva, where she is expected to arrive about the end of the month.
