General Serov In Hungary
BUDAPEST, April 3. The head of Soviet State Security, General Ivan Serov—“lvan the Terrible" to British newspapers—has arrived unheralded in Budapest with a visiting Soviet delegation led by Mr Khrushchev. General Serov’s * name has not been officially mentioned in the visit, but he was seen standing with the Soviet leader’s party and Hungarian Communist leaders at a ceremony commemorating Hungarian war dead held today on Heroes* Square. Another prominent Russian, apart from the official delegation, also at today's ceremony was the First Deputy Defence Minister, Marshal Andrei Gretchko, who is also Commander-In-Chief of Soviet ground forces. He was accompanied today by the Commander of Soviet troops in Hungary, General of the Army, M. F. Kazakov. Marshal Gretchko's presence aroused speculation, for he is not an official member of the Soviet delegation.
