Appointment Of Mr D. L. Fyfe
Mr D. L Fyfe, who succeeds Mr A. W. Packard as agricultural editor of “The Press.” has
been concerned with farming since he was a boy. A son of the late Mr C. A. Fyfe, who was
well known as a farmer in MidCanterbury, and Mrs Fyfe, he was educated at the Waitaki Boys’ High School. After joining the “Ashburton Guardian” in 1940, he served in the Army from 1941 to 1946, including three years in the Middle East, Italy, and Japan. He also visited Great Britain during this period. Mr Fyfe returned to the “Ashburton Guardian” in 1946. joined “The Press” early in 1948, and after 18 months in the Timaru office, has been a member of the general staff in Christchurch, specialising in agricultural reporting.
Wycola Park.—The quotation of £872 for the levelling and sowing of Wycola Park has been accepted by the Paparua County Council, and negotiations are under way with the Lands and Survey Department for finance from the Land Subdivision in Counties fund. Work is already well ahead on the levelling of the 10-acre park.
